Here is a list of key pieces to jazz up any outfit.

  1. Statement Jewelry Piece
  2. Pop of a Color
  3. Jeans – Dress up Your Jeans
  4. Chunni/Dupatta or Scarf
  5. Kurti/Tunic

Tips to get this look right.

1.  Kurti/Tunic:

HMAAN

  • Color, pattern, sparkle, texture – all these elements together can make one item a focal point of an outfit.
  • Always give first preference to a fit which is flattering on your figure.
  • Jewel tones look really great on medium skin tones. Fuchsia pink, turquoise blue, garnet, emerald green.

Chunni/Dupatta:

Look for contrasting or from same color family chunni/dupatta for your kurti and wrap it like shawl or scarf and that adds a character to your outfit. A chunni with border looks great.
Cool Tip: Save your chunni’s/dupatta from old salwar kameej and re-cycle them with jeans to create a new outfit.

Jeans:

Create balance: For a chic silhouette, pair a loose silky fabric tunic with skinny jeans or a slim fit pants and it will balance the billowy piece on top.
Similar items you can pair with tunic:

Find super flattering jeans at GAP  – my personal Favorite is mid rise skinny jeans  – this is wearable…and of course affordable.

Statement Jewelry:

HMAAN

We all have great collection of jewelry from back home, pull out a key piece from our collection and make a statement or focal point of your outfit.
Statement necklace, earrings are in fashion and they look great with Kurti. I added Jhumkee earrings(traditional indian design from India)

Confidence:

No matter how great is your outfit, a bright smile can make any ensemble into a million dollar outfit.  Confidence is key to look great and feel chic and by adding all these accessories on top is crème on cake.
